Equal Pay Act
Would establish the Equal Pay Act to ensure that employees in the state of North Carolina are paid the same wages, in the same establishment, for the same quality and quantity of the same classification of work. A variation in rate of pay is not discrimination is it is based on seniority, a difference in length of service, ability, skill, a difference in duties or services performed, differences in working conditions, or other reasonable factor other than sex, if done in good faith. An employee who has received less wages than the employee is entitled to, may recover the balance of the wages together with costs and attorneys’ fees.
