An Act Relative to Earned Sick Time
Allows a worker in a business with more than ten employees to earn one hour of paid sick or safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to 56 hours annually. A worker in a business with six to ten employees would earn one hour of paid sick or safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours annually. A worker in a business with fewer than six employees would earn up to 40 hours of unpaid sick or safe time annually. The bill does not cover seasonal workers. The earned sick or safe time may be used for the worker's own illness, medical appointment or preventive care or for those of a child, spouse, parent or parent of a spouse. It may also be used to address the psychological, physical or legal effects of domestic violence.
