Today, the National Partnership for Women & Families announced the Business Working Group for Gender Equity, a group of fourteen leading businesses spanning across various industries. The National Partnership will work with these businesses to facilitate a dialogue among employers committed to advancing gender equity. The working group is focused primarily on promoting paid family and medical leave, equal pay, accommodations for pregnant workers and approaches to prevent and address workplace sexual harassment.
The companies in the Business Working Group have a history of leadership on gender equity policies, including implementing innovative paid leave polices, committing to gender and racial pay parity, supporting expanded workplace protections for LGBTQ people or endorsing public policy solutions to paid family leave or workplace pregnancy discrimination.
During their yearlong commitment to the Business Working Group, companies will learn more about key gender equity issues, including internal best practices and the state and federal policy landscape; connect with issue experts and other stakeholders; and promote shared learning and new partnerships.
The National Partnership will work with members of the Business Working Group to identify solutions and opportunities for meaningful change, whether by strengthening internal corporate policies, influencing broader culture change or supporting public policy solutions.
