Poor Quality Health Care Does Not Discriminate.
On average Americans only get the right care for their condition 55 percent of the time.(4) For example:
- Barely half of adults with diabetes report receiving all three recommended tests for comprehensive diabetes care.(5)
- Two million of us pick up infections each year at the hospitals that are supposed to make us well. Around 90,000 people die from those infections. Many more suffer needlessly, are incapacitated or worse.(6)
- Poor quality affects everyone: fully insured, underserved, under and uninsured, and Medicaid enrollees.
