UPDATE: Leaked HHS Draft Regulations to Redefine Abortion to Include Birth Control Pills!

Comprehensive reproductive health care is critical for women. The National Partnership has a long history of actively supporting women’s freedom of choice in the broadest sense from access to contraception and abortion services, to medical advancements that holds great promise for women, such as stem cell research.

We have worked to preserve funding for family planning and abortion services in the Medicaid program and other programs funded by the federal government. As longstanding advocates for policies that improve women’s access to quality health care, the National Partnership is proud to have testified before the FDA, and led efforts in the fight to make an emergency contraceptive, Plan BŪ, available over the counter, or without a prescription.

To ensure that government decisions are based on the best scientific information available and not on political ideology, the National Partnership serves on the Steering Committee of the Integrity of Science Working Group, a coalition of environmental and public health groups working to alleviate the misuse of scientific information in policymaking.

The National Partnership will continue to advocate for the full range of reproductive health services so that women’s needs are adequately addressed in today’s rapidly changing health care system.
