Overview
The National Partnership for Women & Families has a deep, unwavering commitment to giving every individual and couple access to quality, affordable reproductive health services and full information about their choices. This is essential to determining the number, spacing and timing of children, promoting healthy pregnancies and improving women’s health, which are key to women’s self-determination and ability to participate fully and equally in society.
The National Partnership is working to increase women’s access to quality, confidential reproductive health services and block attempts to limit reproductive rights and reverse hard-won gains. Our goal is to give every woman access to the full range of reproductive health information and services, including contraceptive services and supplies, sexuality education, abortion services, and screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, in order to improve women’s health and well-being.

Mourning Dr. George Tiller
A courageous and compassionate abortion provider, Dr. George Tiller, was murdered at his church in Wichita, Kansas on May 31. Dr. Tiller was a target of anti-choice violence for years, but refused to be intimidated by bullets, arson and harassment. Instead he continued providing the reproductive health services that women urgently needed. The National Partnership condemned his killing and sends heart-felt condolences to his family, coworkers and patients.

Prevention First
Half of all pregnancies in the U.S. each year are unintended the highest rate among industrialized nations. Prevention First would address our nation's unmet needs by ensuring that federally-funded sex education programs are medically accurate, increasing desperately needed public funding for family planning services for low-income women, guaranteeing coverage of contraception through private insurance plans, and improving awareness of emergency contraception.
