What is the Daily Women's Health Policy Report?

The National Partnership’s Daily Women’s Health Policy Report provides a timely snapshot of the major women’s health stories covered in newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations, online outlets, and journals delivered right to your inbox before noon each weekday.

As of November 5, 2007, the National Partnership’s free publication replaces the well-regarded version produced by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The National Partnership is committed to providing the same editorial quality, timely distribution, and functionality of the e-mail report and corresponding Web pages that subscribers have come to expect.

Who subscribes to the daily report?

Quite simply, anyone with an interest in women’s health, including academics, students, policymakers, government officials, and members of the general public.

What are the content sources and what issues are covered?

The daily report searches more than 300 sources, including newspapers, magazines, journals, press releases, web sites and other sources for relevant stories.  Topics include:

  • Abortion, with a focus on national policy issues or judicial decisions;
  • Contraception, with a focus on access to contraception, clinical studies, and state and national policies;
  • Federal funding for abstinence and comprehensive sex education as well as state issues with larger policy implications;  
  • Sexually transmitted infections;
  • Disorders of the reproductive health system;
  • Public health issues affecting pregnant women/fetuses;
  • HPV and vaccines;
  • Breast and gynecological cancers;
  • Federal and state action on human embryonic stem cell research/cloning;
  • News, features and editorials/opinions on women’s/reproductive health issues from Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
  • Action on federal legislation/policy;
  • Major FDA approvals;
  • Major federal, state, and Supreme Court decisions;
  • Nominations/deaths/retirements of Supreme Court justices;
  • News regarding women's health issues related to presidential candidates/elections;
  • Action on state constitutional amendments that are related to Roe v. Wade;
  • Studies with major policy implications;
  • International women's health stories with worldwide implications;
  • Congressional and gubernatorial races, as well as state initiatives/referendums and state legislation, related to women's health;
  • Groundbreaking actions in large cities; and
  • Men's contraception.

Will the service continue to be free?

Absolutely!  The National Partnership is committed to providing this service free-of-charge. The Daily Report will be available online and via email Monday through Friday (except federal holidays, the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and days the government is closed for inclement weather). Archives of the Daily Women’s Health Policy Report will be accessible through both nationalpartnership.org and kaisernetwork.org (1989-2007).
