Appeals Court Strikes Down Ariz. 20-Week Abortion Ban as Unconstitutional

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday struck down an Arizona law (HB 2036) that bans abortions after 20 weeks from a woman's last menstrual period, ruling that the measure violates Supreme Court precedent prohibiting states from banning abortions prior to fetal viability, the New York Times reports.
