Va. House Opts Not To Vote on Legislation Restricting Contraceptive Coverage
February 6, 2013 — The Virginia House Commerce and Labor Committee on Monday declined to vote on a trio of bills (HB 1314, HB 1315, HB 1417) that would have allowed state health insurers to deny contraceptive coverage to women, the Washington Post's "Virginia Politics" reports.
The legislation was introduced by Del. Robert Marshall (R) and required a floor vote before Tuesday to continue in the legislative session. However, lawmakers on Monday denied Marshall's motion to discharge the bills from the committee (Haines, "Virginia Politics," Washington Post, 2/4).
