Utah Lawmaker Plans To Introduce Bill Banning Sex-Selective Abortion

October 11, 2012 — A Utah lawmaker on Tuesday said she is preparing a bill that would ban abortion based on the sex of the fetus, ABC4 reports.

State Sen. Margaret Dayton (R) said she is getting input from other state lawmakers on a rough draft of the bill. The measure might be debated during January's legislative session, she added.

Dayton might add a provision that would ban abortion based on the race of the fetus. "For someone saying I am not interested in having a child the same race as the man that impregnated me," she said of the provision (Vanocur, ABC4, 10/9).
