October 3, 2012 — Montana voters next month will consider a ballot initiative (LR 120) that would require parental notification before minors can obtain abortion care, the Columbia Falls Hungry Horse News reports.
The Legislature approved the parental notification referendum last year, so it did not require a signature-gathering process to appear on the ballot. State Rep. Jerry Bennett (R) sponsored the proposal (Hanners, Columbia Falls Hungry Horse News, 9/26).
Repro Health Watch — an exciting new edition of the Women’s Health Policy Report — compiles and distributes media coverage of proposed and enacted state laws and ballot initiatives affecting women's access to comprehensive reproductive health care, as well as litigation in response to those provisions.
