Ohio House Republicans Introduce Bill To Ban Sex-Selective Abortion

June 22, 2012 — Two Ohio House lawmakers last week introduced legislation (HB 570) that would ban abortion based on the sex of the fetus, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Republican Reps. Cheryl Grossman and Matt Lynch modeled the legislation after a federal bill (HR 3541) that was rejected by the U.S. House last month.

The Ohio bill would require health care providers to report suspected violations and would exempt women from liability for seeking the procedure (Siegel, Columbus Dispatch, 6/21).
