Summary: Vermont workers have greater access to parental and medical leave under state law than under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The state leave law applies to workers in businesses with ten or more employees who have worked an average of 30 hours per week for one year. Eligible workers are entitled to up to twelve weeks of leave following the birth or adoption of a child or to address their own serious health condition.
