The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) turns 20 in just two weeks. This historic family friendly legislation allows workers to take job-protected leave to care for a newborn or newly adopted child or a seriously ill family member, or to recover from their own serious health conditions. As we prepare for this major milestone, we want to hear how the FMLA has benefited you and your family — AND we want to hear if you haven’t been able to benefit from the law because you couldn’t afford to take unpaid leave or because your place of employment was exempted from the FMLA’s provisions.
