Politics in the Exam Room

Environmental, gun safety, medical and women’s health leaders caution that imposing politics on clinical care endangers patients.

State laws around the country are intruding into exam rooms and jeopardizing the quality of medical care available to patients in a number of areas — from treatment for toxic chemical exposures to gun violence prevention to women’s reproductive health — according to a report released by the National Partnership and an unprecedented coalition of environmental, gun safety and medical and organizations.
