Pregnancy Discrimination Act

Thirty-five years later, it's a bitter-sweet anniversary for the Pregnancy Discrimination Act.

Pregnancy Discrimination

In 1978, the National Partnership (then the Women’s Legal Defense Fund) successfully fought for the enactment of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, which outlawed discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions.

Despite this historic legislation, pregnancy discrimination claims are actually on the rise. It is unfathomable that a woman should worry that her job is in jeopardy because she is pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant. And that's why we are leading the charge for the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act!
